Editorial Standards
How we ensure accuracy, objectivity, and independence in our insurance content.
Our editorial team follows strict guidelines to ensure accuracy, objectivity, and independence. This page explains how we create and maintain the content you read on Insurance Geek.
Our Commitment
Insurance Geek exists to help you understand insurance and make informed decisions. We believe that starts with content you can trust. Our editorial standards ensure that every article, guide, and comparison is accurate, clear, and free from undue influence.
We are an independent insurance agency with access to 30+ A-rated carriers. Our content is written to educate—not to push a particular product or carrier. When we recommend something, it's because we believe it serves your needs, not ours.
How We Create Content
- Research first. We rely on carrier materials, regulatory sources, and industry data. When we cite statistics or rates, we link to or reference the source when possible.
- Expert review. Content is reviewed by licensed agents and subject matter experts. Articles involving complex products (e.g., IUL, annuities) are vetted for accuracy.
- Clear structure. We lead with the answer, then explain. We use headings, key takeaways, and FAQs so you can find what you need quickly.
- Regular updates. Insurance products and regulations change. We periodically review and update content to reflect current information.
Voice and Tone
Our content is expert but approachable. We explain clearly, avoid jargon (or define it when we use it), and speak directly to you. We don't use fear-mongering, hype, or pushy sales language. We call out tradeoffs, limitations, and who a product isn't for—because honesty builds trust.
When you see an Expert Tip or Expert Insight, that's first-person perspective from Brad Cummins or another licensed expert—practical, experience-based, and clearly attributed.
Independence
Our editorial content is not influenced by advertisers or carriers. We do not accept payment to rank or feature specific companies in our guides. When we compare carriers or products, we base our analysis on rates, coverage, and customer experience—not partnerships.
Insurance Geek is a licensed independent agency. We earn commissions when you purchase through us, but that does not determine what we write or recommend. Our goal is to help you find the right coverage at a fair price.
